Storied La Liga Side Real Madrid CF to Compete at the 2023 Dallas Cup presented by Coca-Cola

DALLAS, Texas (Thursday, Jan. 19) – Dallas Cup, the oldest and most prestigious international youth soccer tournament in North America, has announced that the Under-18 Real Madrid CF team will compete in the Gordon Jago Super Group at the 2023 Dallas Cup presented by Coca-Cola.

Real Madrid stands as the only Spanish side to win the prized Super Group “Boot & Ball” trophy, a feat they accomplished with back-to-back titles in 1993 and 1994. Los Blancos later competed in the Super Group in 2006 and 2007. Now making their fifth Dallas Cup appearance, Real Madrid hopes to bring some more hardware back home to a trophy case that is already plenty full.

One of the most popular clubs in the world, Real Madrid holds several records at both the senior and academy levels. Real Madrid’s first-team is the current champion of La Liga, which they have won a record 35 times. This past May, Los Blancos defeated Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League Final for a record-extending 14th European Championship. At the academy level, Real Madrid has proven equally successful, winning a record 7 Copa de Campeones de Juvenil titles and 14 Copa del Rey Juvenil de Fútbol titles. La Fábrica ("The Factory") is the name given to Real Madrid's academy and has produced countless world-class players since its beginning.

Real Madrid CF is the eighth team announced for the 2023 Gordon Jago Super Group, which is shaping into one of the strongest and most diverse Super Group fields since the elite bracket was formed in 1990. Real Madrid now joins the Premier League’s Arsenal FC, Denmark’s FC Midtjylland, the Brazilian duo of São Paulo FC and Botafogo, Liga MX’s Tigres and CF Monterrey, as well as Canada’s Toronto FC, who were all previously announced. In total, 12 elite teams hailing from top pro clubs and national federations around the world will vie for the iconic Super Group “Boot & Ball” trophy.

The 2023 Dallas Cup presented by Coca-Cola will be played April 2 through April 9. The boys’ tournament component will once again be played concurrently with the Dallas Cup Girls’ Invitational presented by Mary Kay (Girls 15U-18/19U) which runs April 1 through April 7.
