Brazilian Champions Botafogo Confirmed for the 2025 Dallas Cup Presented by Coca-Cola

DALLAS, Texas (Wednesday, Jan. 15) – Dallas Cup, the oldest and most prestigious international youth soccer tournament in North America, has announced that Brazilian side Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas will compete in the Gordon Jago Super Group at the 2025 Dallas Cup presented by Coca-Cola. The 46th edition of the Dallas Cup will be played from April 13 through April 20.

This marks Botafogo’s third consecutive year in the prestigious Gordon Jago Super Group bracket. In 2024, the Brazilian side delivered a strong campaign, remaining undefeated in group play with victories over Denmark’s FC Midtjylland, Mexico’s Club Santos Laguna, and MLS academy side St. Louis City SC. They narrowly missed a spot in the final after a hard-fought 2-1 semifinal loss to FC Dallas. Botafogo hopes to take the next step this April and win the club’s first “Boot & Ball” championship trophy. Historically, clubs from Brazil have enjoyed a great deal of success at Dallas Cup, winning a record 13 Super Group trophies since the elite bracket was formed in 1990. Fellow Brazilian side São Paulo FC, who secured the trophy in 2024, will return to defend their title in 2025. At the senior level, Botafogo’s 2024 campaign was one for the history books. The club achieved a rare double, capturing both the Copa Libertadores and the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A titles. It was Botafogo's first Copa Libertadores triumph and their first national league title since 1995. The historic club from Rio de Janeiro holds several Brazilian records, including the longest unbeaten run (52 games during the 1977-78 season) and the most players assigned to the Brazil National Team for World Cup. Botafogo joins a strong lineup of confirmed teams for the 2025 Gordon Jago Super Group, including La Liga’s Real Madrid CF, defending Super Group champions São Paulo FC, Danish Superliga champions FC Midtjylland, Germany’s Eintracht Frankfurt, and Premier League side Newcastle United. A total of 12 elite teams from top professional clubs and national federations worldwide will compete for the iconic “Boot & Ball” trophy next April.

The 2025 Dallas Cup will be played from April 13 through April 20. As it prepares for the 46th edition of the tournament in 2025, the Dallas Cup continues to build on the remarkable legacy established since its inception in 1980. With the acquisition of the Dallas International Girls Cup, the tournament is poised to significantly expand in scope and size, as both the boys and girls brackets will now feature U10 through U19 age divisions. Selection for the 2025 Dallas Cup presented by Coca-Cola is underway. Teams looking to join the action can still apply at DallasCup.org while the selection committee reviews applications.
